1. Eat for energy
Not all foods give you the right kind of energy. Some give you a spike of energy that uplifts you for an hour or less and then you find yourself crashing and reaching for more.
Include these foods in your diet to keep you going all day long!
Bananas, sweet potatoes, yoghurt, green leafy vegetables, eggs, oatmeal, salmon, berries, apples, beans, avocados and nuts. The key is fresh whole food.
2. Reduce stress
Stress-induced emotions consume huge amounts of energy. Sometimes we just need to slow down and take a breath in order to speed back up again.
- lighten your load and don't overwork yourself
- journal or talk it out with a friend
- ground your bare feet on the earth's surface
- soak up some morning sun and evening moon light
- surround yourself with the beauty of nature and breathe
3. Exercise
Although exercise sounds like a energy drainer, it actually gives your cells more energy to burn and circulates oxygen. Exercising also increases the happy hormone dopamine, boosting your mood.
This doesn't mean overworking yourself, it means simply engaging in movement you enjoy. Start by simply incorporating a low intensity walk into your routine. Studies have shown that some yoga poses like downward dog is also an excellent fatigue fighter.
4. Put yourself on a sleep schedule
Wake up at the same time everyday, even on weekends, no matter how little sleep you get the night before. By forcing your body to adhere to the pattern, you will fall asleep faster when your head hits the pillow.
Give it a few weeks to work. Limiting your use of electronics devices before bed will also increase your sleep quality.
5. Hydrate
One of the first signs your body shows when it's short on fluids is fatigue and if the only thing you've sipped on all day is coffee - you're likely dehydrated.
Keep a bottle of water with you to sip on throughout the day.
6. Heal your gut
The trillions of microbes that live in your gut and make up your gut microbiome are not just important for your digestion but also for your overall health.
Each person's microbiome is different and needs a wide range of different foods to thrive. One of the most common signs of an unhealthy gut that people experience is fatigue.
